Understanding test results

Did my normal wake-up BG test this morning, and scored 7.1, a bit higher than usual for me, so decided to walk my son to school to try to get it down a bit.

After walking for around 20 mins, covering about a mile, I test again and get 8.0 !!!!

Took my metformin, and a multivitamin with a mouthful of water, but apart from that I didn't eat or drink anything - whats likely to have caused this rise ???

I have no idea Mat, today is my first week anniversary since diagnosis, but someone will answer I'm sure.

Could be liver dump I dont know much about this but it seems that if your body thinks you are starving the liver dumps glucose into your system .Some people have this problem in a morning before they eat .

I found my BG drops after eating a very low carb meal. Maybe that is the answer? I am only a week into the new diet, so I am far from an expert.
