I have not monitored my BG for about 6 months other than quarterly hba1c tests as the last monitoring I did had me mostly a flat line all the time except for mornings. I had a libre sitting around I put on a couple days ago as I wanted to know what impact a ‘bad’ meal once a month, some beer on occasion, and the odd ice cream had on me.

So last night I ate half a pizza and had a few low carb beers. They put bbq sauce on it by mistake so more sugar then I had planned. I was at 5.5 before and shocked to see 5.2 two hours later. The highest I got up to was about 7 around an hour in. BG kept dropping and was about 4 all night until I woke up and other then a quick morning blip into the 6s has been mid 5s and lower all day.

I’m a bit shocked/surprised by the results to be honest. I did lose about 12kgs which I was mostly carrying in my belly so not sure if that has made the difference.

I don't plan on going off low carb as I actually quite like it but I am really surprised (and pleased) with the results. I do plan on being a bit freer with what I eat though a couple times a month so pretty happy I don't need to stress too much about that. I am in keto but a high carb meal didn't knock me out. I did feel hungry a little bit this morning after breakfast which was unusual but it passed.

For background info I am a 48 year old male, diagnosed with an hba1c of 54 my last hba1c was 37 in January. I am now on the low side of BMI and run 4-5 times a week and started doing resistance training in January.

That's great news but just watch out for ol' complacency card. Congratulations on your weight loss and excercise regime, well done!

Absolutely! For me it was diet and genetics that got me where I was. I probably used to get about 70% of my calories from carbs as that is what I grew up with and I thought fat was bad for me. I have been running for 10 years now so that is easy to keep up it is just the diet I have to watch.
