Unexpected highs due to heat???

Has anyone been experiencing unusually high BG readings with no real explanation for them during this hot spell of weather we are having? I have had a couple of shockers yesterday and this morning and there is no reason from what I have eaten so am wondering if it could be heat related?
 
I haven't! But you will see some fluctuations!
This is similar to when you have a high temperature because of a cold or flu.

I personally love this weather, but I know there will be those who can't cope with it.
We are just not use to it!
 
Yes, I had a reading 10.1 this morning and did wonder if the heat had anything to do with it, didn't sleep too well either because of it.
 
I woke for for usual baby bottle at 3am and had all the symptoms I used to have before being diagnosed; sandpaper throat with extreme thirst and trips to the toilet. I also wondered if it was the heat
 
I'd venture to say that it may not be just the high temps (though by any definition they are high for the UK) but it's the speed with which they've come on. Sudden temp changes are good for no-one and diabetics no exception.

That is one massive change you've had in a relatively short time.

I just posted this on the fasting thread before I saw this:

"Gezzabelle - I spend a lot of time in the heat, and found that if I allow myself to become dehydrated, in the least, my morning bloods would rise. Of course, the compromise of an intra-night loo trip is the pay-off, but it could be worthwhile having a decent long drink mid evening?"
 
I think part of it is down to de-hydration. It is always important to drink loads of fluids, but in this weather the amount you drink should be increased - by a lot. So yes, in my opinion the heat is a culprit, but only if the fluids aren't increased.
 
Also, when increasing fluids, don't forget your electrolytes! Eat some olives or cheese, or anything with salt - or even sprinkle a little salt into your water (haven't tried it myself). Bovril/marmite/broth is also an option, if you can face a hot drink.
 
Yup! I've had some very high spikes in the last couple of days - 17 & even 23mmo/l! No dietary or exercise changes. I had a routine meeting with my diabetes nurse this morning and she confirmed that most of her patients over the last day or two have been reporting the same sudden sugar spikes - so it's definitely a current phenomenon.
 
Does anyone else get unexpected lows? I've had a few hypos in the last couple of weeks, since the warm weather came, I'm on metformin and exenatide, so I stopped taking my injection for a few days, then my readings went up and today I felt so ill I've had to come home from work. Took my injection with a big but healthy lunch, now I'm heading towards a hypo again. Byetta is good but I can only think that a swing from 12.6 to 3.6 is related to something else, perhaps the weather? I'm heartily sick of the whole diabetes thing today...
