This might seem a silly question but I’ve been given some bolus “fiasp” for mealtimes along side my basal Tresiba and the nurse has written 4 units breakfast, 8units lunch and 6 units supper on the flexi pen is this 40, 80 & 60? I’m confused - any help gratefully received

Hello, if its the Fiasp flex touch prefilled pens, no, you just dial it to 4 units. (It goes from single to double figure numbers) Prefilled pens dials up to maximum 30 units. Fiasp is very quick acting, so I’m assuming your nurse is starting you off slowly. The ml is the amount of insulin the pen is holding. I know you can get 200ml prefilled pens.

It would be 4, 8 and 6 - the pen is measured in units to make it as simple as possible for us. It’s a tiny volume of liquid you’re injecting, 1ml standard insulin contains 100u of active “stuff”. So your 6u dose is just 0.06ml of actual liquid.
