Hi all.
New here.
In need of a bit of advice.
I have lost over a stone and half in weight without even trying in the last few months.
But I'm constantly hungry.
Iv also been drinking a heck of a lot more aswell lately.
Also I am constantly tired.
Obviously looked up symptoms and diabetes has popped up.
Thought I would ask around if it is worth me going to my local pharmacy as they can do a simple test apparently and get tested for diabetes. Or do I just book appointment for doctor and go via them.
I'm just worried I could be wasting people's time if I am over exaggerating over nothing.
Any advice would be much appreciated

My advice would see if your gp would do a blood test to see if you are diabetic.
As far as I know, chemist just do a finger pick test but am not too sure

Yes make an appointment with your GP
Explain as you have done on here and ask for a Blood Glucose Test there and then and ask your GP to take blood samples

Good luck

Tiredness, weight loss and excessive thirst are symptoms of diabetes so it's best to get checked out

I'll say what I always say in these circumstances, which is that you're never wasting people's time in a situation like this. It's possible that all is fine, in which case you will be relieved and can get on with your life, or it's possible that you have become diabetic (and from what you say, it does sound a possibility), in which case the sooner you start to try and turn things round the better, for you and for your longer term health. You will find lots of support and advice on here, if that is the case, and there's lots you can do to keep yourself in good shape.

Either way, your GP will not mind in the least, it's what s/he is there for.

Let us know how it goes :)

Many thanks for all your replies. Il phone the doctor in the morning but will probably be late next week when I get in to see someone and a week later for a test.
Just wanted some reassurance I wouldn't be wasting a doctors time.
My only reason I am thinking I am wasting their time is coz i am only 28 (nearly 29) and I don't know any medical history from relatives as we have never been close. I know that is a aspect they look at. And age factor. At 28 it's not very common to my knowledge. Apologies if I am wrong
