Acceptance of health treatment claims that are not adequately supported by evidence. I dislike it when people sell ineffective and even harmful alternative health products to exploit the desperation of people with chronic illness.
I've been back on the LCHF wagon for about 10 days and am feeling great, and have lost 2kg :)

This morning I woke up at 7am and, unusually for me, didn't feel hungry for a few hours.

At 930am my BG was 5.7 which was a little higher than I would like, but not too bad. I then ate some berries, full fat yoghurt, flaxseeds, and a little cream.

At 1230pm I suddenly felt really hungry and a bit weak. My BG was 4.7. Seemed like a false hypo, probably since my levels lately have been higher. I then ate the same dish without the flaxseeds, a boiled egg, and a low carb hot chocolate drink.

It will be interesting to see what my BG is at 2 hours after lunch. I just find it a bit strange that my BG would be 1 point lower at 3 hours (wish I'd remembered to test at 2 hours). I'm going to test and probably eat a bit more often for the rest of the day and see what happens.

Have done some more testing, here is the day so far:

930am 5.7 + meal
1230pm 4.7 + meal
2pm 7.1
3.30pm 5.6 + snack

Things are looking more normal now. I might see what my fasting BG is tomorrow.

It's just gone 8pm here and I will now give my fingers a rest, lol.

This is what I ended up with... I'm quite happy about it really... it shows me I am on the right track to getting BGs down and losing more weight.

930am 5.7 + meal
1230pm 4.7 + meal
2pm 7.1
3.30pm 5.6 + snack
7.30pm 5.0 + meal

If I keep having days like this, I have nothing to complain about :) I am lucky.

What's wrong with the 5.7?

Now that I think about it, nothing really. At the time I thought it should have been around 5.0, for some reason. I keep falling into that trap of thinking it should start low so you have wiggle room, but what actually happens is it gets lower during the day, which is fine.

They all good readings ..wish i could get mine that consistant through out the day

Looking at the numbers in your signature, you are getting there :) Congrats on your weight loss too!

@CatLadyNZ Well done, it's all looking good to me :)

This is a diversion from your thread, but for a reason. Thanks so much for mentioning the spacer to use with ventolin the other day. Can you believe I had forgotten I even had a spacer?! I had also forgotten about pholcodine which was prescribed for my son when he was a child when he had similar illnesses to mine now. I'll use the pholcodine tomorrow when the cough won't be as 'productive' (yuck) as I am on the mend now.

Anyway thanks again. :)

Thanks zand. I was surprised how well the day turned out, as to start with things seemed unusual. It all helps keep me motivated.

I'm glad the spacer and pholcodine suggestions were good ones! Glad you are on the mend.

Fasting BG this morning was 5.2, so I'm really chuffed about that. Even though I am several stone overweight (working on it), this doesn't seem to worsen my BGs. I think this is because although I weighed over 20 stone and had a BMI of 46, I was relatively young at diagnosis (38) and I had probably not had high BGs for very long. I'm 42 now. My BP is controlled by meds (it was only a little high anyway) and my lipids are fine. So I think I have dodged a bullet in the diabetes department. At least one of my many medical conditions is not too bad.

So here is my pattern I see with fasting numbers. Normally I am steady between 4.8 and 5.2 on my meter - generally towards the lower end. The higher carb I ate the previous day the lower the fasting (strange). I do at times see 5.6 (always 5.6!) and that is when I eat lots of protein the night before. I have done many experiments and it is definitely the level I get when converting excess protein to glucose. After one particular brazilian (steak feast) restaurant feast I stayed at 5.6mmol/l when I went to bed until 11AM the next day (I tested every hour).

Could this be the cause of your 5.7 unusual fasting - lots of protein the previous day?

Quite possibly, as I eat a fair amount of protein-rich foods.
