OK, I admit I was naughty on Boxingday and scoffed a lot of mince pies, Christmas pud and brownies. But, since then, I've been very well-behaved and gone back to my usual diet of porridge for breakfast homemade soups for lunch, home cooked food in the evening.
My HBA1C in October was 7.3. I take 2000mg Metformin, 320mg Gliclazide and 20 micrograms of Exanetide (Byetta) each day - which hasn't changed for three years or more. Before Christmas my FBG was regularly below 7mmol/L but now I cannot get it below 10mmol/L. This morning it was 14.8 and I ate prawns, shellfish, mackerel last night when it was 8.0 before supper). Before lunch today, it was 11.7 (between breakfast and lunch, I had one cup of coffee and five glasses of water).
I've no idea why my BS has spiked so much and why I can't get it down, I do have a slight head cold at the moment and feel generally run-down.
I'll make an appt with the doctor (frankly, that it unlikely to help because he is fairly dismissive of most people) but I'd really welcome any suggestions from the team as to what to do.
