Update: Never had Pre-Diabetes in the first place?

So I went to the doctor today, had some paranoia regarding a toe looking swollen (doc says it's fine). That said, I told him about my prediabetes diagnosis a year or two ago, and my return to normal A1 levels. He pulled up my test results and, according to him, I never had pre-diabetes! So the first doctor misdiagnosed (and scared the **** out of me?) for no good reason? Not impressed, but relieved that I was fine to begin with.

Hope you all doing well.

Did you ever get the HbA1c numbers @SargeMaximus?

They could tell you how close you came, and at least, now, you will have info and experience on how to avoid, or delay a T2 diagnosis in future. Hope you never need it.

Yes, my first results were 5.9, second was 5,5

I see from your profile that you are in Canada, the HbA1c level for a diagnosis of prediabetes is 6.0 - 6.4% in Canada the same as the U.K. The USA uses 5.7 - 6.4%. You were as close as you can get without being prediabetic by Canada and U.K. standards. I would take this as a warning of what might be if you don’t keep taking care. Well done for getting down to 5.5%.

I don't take kindly to lecturing. Of COURSE I take my health seriously.

I don’t take too kindly to being shouted at (capital letters) by a stranger on line. I didn’t mean to offend, you obviously know how to take care as you’ve shown by your reduction in HbA1c so far, for which I congratulated you.

The capital letters was to emphazise "of course", not to shout. Literally the first thing I thought of when first "diagnosed" (misdiagnosed, as it turns out!) was "Wow, I'd better get more serious than I already am!"

I never had pre-diabetes in previous blood tests results in the past. My blood test was suddenly jump up from normal 5.1% hba1c to Diabetic 7.1% hba1c back in 2021. (Pre-Diabetes ranges is 5.7 to 6.4 Hba1c in Australia)

So jump forward to 2025... I've got characteristics signs of LADA - I'm now doing another Type 1 Diabetes antibodies tests and c-peptide/insulin fasting next week. (My last Hba1c was 5.3 last year but my Diabetes is not in remission). As tested negative for Type 1 Diabetes Antibodies back in 2021.
