Hello,
I currently use libre (1) with miaomiao (2) and use XDrip, I initially scan with the reader, then use my Samsung S8 to scan; this set up seems to tick all of the boxes at the moment, but it can be a bit of a faff on sensor day, and charging the miaomiao has increased to once every 5 days, not to mention its all quite bulky.

The reasons that I like my current set up is, the high and low alarms I can set on xDrip (alarms can be customised, Led Zeppelin for high, Mouse Droid for low etc), these alarms can be further tweaked... Also alarm for signal loss, etc.
I can calibrate XDrip every so often, but eventually both systems level out to being fairly similar.
I also have XDrip on my smart watch, which I find essential for my work.

So my question is, what can the Libre 2 offer?
Would it give me similar alarms and can I get a constant BS on my smart watch?

It has been mentioned by my practice nurse, and my pharmacist why am I not using Libre 2. (I find that sometimes the sequels disappoint).
Hopefully some members have made the upgrade and be able to offer their opinions/advice? And I do value the experiences and reviews of people that actually use the kit.

Cheers

I had a similar system to you with Libre 1. I used xDrip+ (although I had different alarms).
I was delighted to migrate to Libre 2. I continued to use xDrip+ with all the alarms and my current BG on the lock screen and no need to scan.
The advantage, which was huge for me, was that I could chuck my Miaomiao by using OOP2 to hijack the Bluetooth signal Libre 2 sends for its alarms. This signal contains the BG readings but the LibreLunk has not been updated to use it beyond determining whether to alarm or not

So, if you upgrade to Libre 2, everything you have and love can stay the same. You just replace your MM with a small app on your phone so will no longer need to ensure the MM remains charged.

Hi, thanks @In Response
This all sounds encouraging,
to clarify, does the oop2 app work alongside xDrip+?

As with many things, I get settled with a system, and change makes me a little nervous.

Yes. I think of OOP2 as replacing MM. It is just different source of data for xDrip+.
I found it very easy to set up and only had to change one or two settings on xDrip+.

Hi,
I've come to the end of using Libre (1), and will be starting Libre 2 tomorrow.
Has anyone noticed a sudden change with the Libre Link app?
It happened midway through the sensors 2 week period, the scan sounds changed, and every time I scan it has a 30% success rate, the menu also changed to a smaller font size that can't be changed, and it added insulin pens into the menu.

I'm guessing the app has updated? I'm struggling to get on with it, I guess the app will function identically with Libre 2, with the exception of alarms etc.

Hiya. I don't use the app. I use the reader. I can't say I've noticed anything. Please could you advise,is the app worth using? I don't really like the idea of,overloading my phone. Ime not that great with technical stuff as it is. X

Yes, I'm using the app and my Samsung phone suddenly (about 2 weeks ago) started providing notifications from Freestyle Libre Link 2 to ask me to 'tap in order to open the app'. I've no idea why it does this but you cannot delete the notification and it is constantly there. Everything else is ok but I do not use alarms.

I think the app has updated - some of the reviews on Play Store are really negative about the updated version.

Thank you so much. I'll have a serious think about it. Another thing. My diabetes clinic can download stuff from my reader, I don't fancy handing my phone over lol

@brucie75 you do not hand your phone over. The downloads to Libreview happen automatically. (After downloading app and getting access code from my consultant) My consultant rings, and he has already had a look at my results before he starts talking. All done without leaving the comfort of my house. A win win.
Was reluctant to start using phone myself, but it is far superior. You can add things you may have forgotten. And info is much more user friendly.

Try the old "turning phone off and on again" trick. Often cures notifications hiccups

Hi,

I seem to remember there was a new update on the user agreement thingy to box tick recently. Are you certain they don’t want you to open the app for that. I seem to remember having this a week back when changing my sensor..

Also. Do you tend to scan your Libre 2 using a third party app. Years ago using the Libre 1 & a calibrated app called “Glimp” to scan I would get a notification occasionally on Android asking if I wished to use librelink or glimp.unles I opened Glimp for the scan..

I get the same and I can't fathom it out either. I tap to open, app opens and nothing there to do.

On this subject how do I get a reader. I know my phone app does the job but I used a friend's reader and it scans so much easier. I sometimes have to take 5-6 attempt with the phone but reader first time every time.
