What do people think about urinary microalbumin levels? When i was diagnosed my urinary microalbumin was 40ug/ml (0-17 ref range) and my urinary creatinine was 80mg/dl (22-328 ref range), so my microalbumin-to-creatinine ratio was 50x (0-30x ref range). Looking at my records since then, I see that my microalbumin has been 2-10ug/ml, creatinine 30-180mg/dl, and my ratio 3x-23x.
This all seems normal but twice when I tested, my microalbumin were 12 and 15ug/ml, still normal (under 17) but I wonder if this implies I may have been leaking a bit much protein, i.e., my BG control wasn't very tight. They happened when my A1c was around 5.4-5.7, when I was experimenting with sweet potatoes. Frequently I saw my BG spike and go over 170 after 1 hour (so probably over 200 before 1 hour) and I was worried how that would impact my A1c. Not too badly but what seems to have changed is my microalbumin.
My most recent A1c is 5.1, as I only strictly portion-control the sweet potatoes now (100g<). And my microalbumin is just 2, creatinine 34, ratio 6x. This seems correlated but would this be a correct interpretation? I know stress can move microalbumin but the 12 and 15 results were done 3 months apart with me experimenting with about 150-250grams of sweet potato carbs. They do stand out like a sore thumb when I look at the history over the last 5 years.
