Urine albumin to creatinine ratio

My husband is type 2 diabetic, on metformin and also Ramipril for High Blood pressure.

He had his annual bloods done last week, everything came back perfect, even his hba1c had come down to 46 ( from 56) but his urine showed an albumin to creatinine ratio of 3.3, above the cut off of 3.0.

I have no idea what this means! Should I be worried about him? I have read this shows kidney damage but is not uncommon in diabetics.

Can anyone help me with this and what should I be advising him?

Thank you.

I had a similar situation this year, I was very scared, I came to the nephrologist, and he said that it was nothing terrible, but he prescribed me perindopril for life. It doesn't look like he really thought it was something serious, if the instructions for perindopril didn't have so many instructions for interacting with other medications, I would have decided that he prescribed homeopathy to calm me down. As I understand it, the main thing is to monitor the pressure, because kidney problems are directly related to pressure problems (although my usual pressure is lower than 120/80)
