I need some help. I started using forxiga a couple of months back on my doctors advice and it was working fine till now. I have been facing problems of urine dripping out on its own from a long time but it wasn't an issue then. I noticed yesterday that I had some white paste like substance on the inner side of my penis which is causing severe itching. I am facing problems while urinating cause it doesn't come out quickly. I read that forxiga is not recommended for type1 diabetes. What should I do? Please help

As to forxiga, like other SGL2 inhibitors, it is not at present licensed for people with Type1. There are clinical trials going on to see if it of benefit in Type1, but as most of the profits are made from Type2 these tails are limited. A doctor is allowed to prescribe a drug “off licence” provided they have considered the risks of doing so.

Based on my understanding of the science, I don’t have a view on the benefit or otherwise of SGL2 inhibitors in someone with Type1 without a high level of insulin resistance.

But I would consider “low carb” or “very low carb” to be a good option, as at the very least reducing carbs should reduce side effects from SGL2 inhibitors. Also the people with Type1 who have the best AC1 all seem to be very low carb…….. (Think about what an SGL2 inhibitor does with the carbs!)
