Can someone please explain why I get asked to provide a urine sample every time I go for a full blood count including hba1c, liver and kidney function test etc? What else would they discover that’s not covered by the blood tests. Plus there will be a trace of glucose in my urine as I’m taking dapagliflozin which makes you wee out the extra glucose anyway. Waste of time and effort IMO! I think it’s one of those silly routine things that GP practices practice!

Kidney function.
They check if you're spilling protein in your urine, which is a marker for possible kidney disease.
