Hi Annie,
Oh the dreaded ageism thing. I don't think I am elderly, just late middle aged. Mind you, young people think I am geriatric - who cares. I had a shock when I was diagnosed a couple of years ago, and I found some really good advice on these forums. I have to confess I had no idea about diabetes before, and went along with the rubbish that the press and polititians push out in their anti-diabetes propaganda. I really changed my diet and exercise regime, to what (I suppose) I should have been doing, but I used to use the excuse that I was working too hard and I had no time left for sensible things. Now, the most important thing is me, and work can take a jump if need be. I walk my dogs or go swimming for exercise as the rest of my body will not take any impact sports like jogging or squash (which I used to like). I think you and your doctor are approaching this sensibly and that is exactly how you should. Good luck with everything. BS
