my Medtronic 522 pump is coming up for replacement and I am able to chose between either the Medtronic Veo or the Omnipod. I am definitely attracted to the Omnipod mainly due to the tubeless design and the ability to put anywhere on my body.
The sticking point is the CGM. I have the CGM kit for the 522 and I tend to use a sensor for 2 weeks out of every 3 months so that I can see how I am tracking. I also use it when going through strange eating periods (eg christmas) or during a long race.
If I get the Veo, I will be able to continue to use the CGM but if I switch to the Omnipod, I will lose that option.
So, I was wondering if it would be possible to use the 522 as a CGM only - effectively treating it like a Paradigm meter. My concern is that the pump function might not be able to be switched off, but I was thinking that I could just put an empty reservoir in and rewind it every 3-4 days.
Do you know anyone who has tried this?
