Using sweeteners

Hi, I have type-II Diabetes and like most enjoy a few cups (Mugs) of coffee or tea during the day. I use sweeteners rather than sugar to my taste. As far as I was aware using sweeteners was ok, but recentally have read that some sweeteners should be avoided. I normally use Tescos Granulated sweetener, (Aspartame-based) can you please advise?

Many thanks
William :!:

I use sweetness and light.
1 sweetner only has 0.04 carb so is fine.

The only thing I don't like with sweetners is when you look at he empty mug/cup all the brown **** has stuck to the bottom and sides. this is caused by something in the sweetner, so I wonder what it does to your insides ?

Anyone explain that one ?

Non of the sweeteners on sale in Britain is dangerous, if used properly, although some have a bit of a suspect history if you have them by the bucketful. I personally hate the taste of Aspartame. I can detect it in minute quantities. I use mostly Splenda. I keep a pack of the tabs in my trousers pocket. If I'm cooking, I use Splenda powder and add a bit of Fructos or Xylitol for texture and structure.

I've used many brands of sweeteners over the last 35 years and I'm still normal....I think. No bad effects from them...I think. Sorry. sweetners you can buy in this country are quite safe as they have been tested.
If I don't have my sweeteners with me when I have coffee when out I always ask for it as sugar leaves a funny taste in my mouth now. :)
