I began using Symlin recently and it's been a godsend at helping me to finally feel full after eating (preventing overeating and weight gain.) However, I'm having trouble managing its use with insulin. The directions on the package aren't helpful. Initially, I gave myself 15 units 5-10 minutes before eating and my Novolog dose (initially increasing the carb ratio per package instructions but with highs coming on after that, I went back to my original ratio) 5-10 minutes after eating but I experienced post-prandial highs. Then, I continued with Symlin before eating as well as the insulin dose. This prevented the post-prandial highs but my glucose would rise very high an hour or two later. My A1C has suffered and I've moved up a point already since mid-November. I've been trying to give myself more insulin when I see that the glucose is rising but by then it's too late and I often have a low many hours later from stacking. I sent a detailed log with carbs, exercise, Novolog and Symlin doses and exact times to my doctor and he didn't offer any insight. Any helpful hints here would be appreciated.
