UTI urinary tract infections !!!any other type 2's had this problem
for the last 3 of my checks with the diabetic nurse (every 6 months) I have apparently shown signs of infection in my urine???
I have had no indications, no pain or discomfort, no problems, and i dont feel unwell or pee frequently, i do often feel tired even after a relaxing weekend,
but thats just the winter slow down i reckon and will dissipate when the brighter nights are here
the last 2 times i had a short course of "Anti Bacterial" but this time my doctor has given me "Antibiotics"
sorry haven't got any more clues, but perhaps someone else has had the same??
ta muchly like
Crofty,

Holds hands up....me too :)

My diabetic nurse has put it down to the fact that with high sugar levels we quite often also have thrush, (in fact vulval itching is a symptom of diabetes) a fungal infection can lead to a bacterial infection and hence the urinary tract infections. She always checks my urine now when I have an appointment, was actually clear last time, but I too have often had antibiotics as a result.

Her best advice was to keep my bg as low as I could, to keep the thrush at bay and hopefully the infections, I was the same as you with very rarely any symptoms, until it got bad enough that my urine didnt smell right

Thanks for that
I haven't had my blood results back yet, so as its over 5 days I am assuming they were ok, and i was told there wasn't any glucose in my wee, Just Leucosytes? (sp)...have to take another sample tommorrow so will see what happens then.
I just rechecked, someone stole my vulva !!!
actually i dont ever remember having one!LOLOLOLOLOL

Just kidding,
did some checking last year i understand the thrush thing though, us blokes can get it too, and if your levels go out of control you can end up with a very uncomfortable conition called "Balinitus", that is related to thrush and excess glucose in your urine,
will see what happens and if i get a chance to chat with the nurse when i take my sample in

Just joined the I have a UTI club, doctors just phoned and informed me. Explains the pain in my kidneys area. i will also try grabbing an anti fungal cream as do get itchy in the groin area

I had a UTI before Christmas. It definitely wasn't down to high sugars. A course of antibiotics fixed it
