Valid reason for getting free test strips on NHS

I am a London mini cab driver diagnosed type 2
I explained to my doctor for the safety of myself and passengers I need to check my BG before I drive to ensure I am safe to drive.

He is now happy to furnish me with the strips.

that is good news. I would like to think that as a type 2 your numbers are not extreme to the extent that you get regular hypos?

It is probably because you are on Gliclazide 80mg twice daily.

Thankfully never had one

Medication was reduced to 120mg daily.
Looking at my readings I think there are further reductions around the corner.

Brilliant news all round, nice to hear it. You gave your GP a very sensible persuasive argument which in fact he couldn't argue with. Great!
