Value for money - test strips

I managed to blag an Accu-chek Aviva meter from Roche with its 10 strips included. I'm still not clear how many test strips I am going to get from the NHS as I'm type 2. I see my GP on Monday.

By value for money I mean they are well in date and original (not fakes), and if by post they need to be well packed and arrive in good time.

I went to Boots this morning, £25 for a pack of 50    Then I went to eBay (I'm an experienced eBayer, only 2 poor experiences since 2002) where things looked better, although obviously no VAT off, as 150 strips cost £26.45, including P&P.

Where do you get yours?
What do you consider to be good value?
Is there anywhere I should avoid?

Hi Spiral

I was going to say Ebay but you have already discovered that!! I used to buy them direct from Roche although I am on the compact meter which is different strips to the one you have.

if you can't find a bargain on Ebay, Go to the meter's web site. the manufacturers sell strips at about half Boots Prices. Abbott who handle the Freestyle meters, even give free P&P

I don't think Accuchek will sell direct. I haven't found many mail order suppliers that are more than marginally cheaper

At one stage when Boots took over our local pharmacy they weren't much more expensive, then they put the prices back up again.

I have just bought 50 strips for £10 inc p+p from ebay. I have an accu-check aviva meter (also from ebay for £5.49) and have also got the lancets from ebay for £4.99 for 200+4, and £2.95 p+p.

I have no idea whether my GP prescribes because I was just sent away with a fistful of photocopies last week and told to come back in 3 months.
