I also watched her live an extra 8 years because she gave up smoking just before she needed a heart bypass (they would have given her a quadruple one but gave her a double because her lungs were so bad), Then I watched her die at 78, killed by the years of smoking and not the T1. I'll tell you now what I wish someone could have made her believe when she was your age. Nicotine addiction and diabetes is a lethal combination.
