Last week I had my clinic appointment and was told in June i'd be upgraded to the Insight pump, firstly I tried the combo almost 2 yrs ago to my disappointment as I couldn't fill the cartridge and other simple functions as Im partially sight but now I have some strong goggles which help a bit, the insight has a smaller prefilled cartridge I hope this will solve this problem ?
I will get a dummy pump to use for a while as once you go on to the main one you've got it for 6 yrs apparently, is this true? if so how boring I've always liked to update my gadgets but honestly 6 yrs.
I also use the 110 cm tubing but I cant seem to find much info on sets so is there the same lengths or similar?
Do most people use the hand held gadget or pump & gadget? .So I'm looking for info on this please from Insight users.
Lastly Ive had an old In fact ancient old pen type thing (so old) with some out of date I'm afraid needles that I use for back up thankfully ive never needed it. I did get stern words from the DSN about she thought id have more common sense especially the fact that I had no long acting insulin if pump failed say over a weekend or bank holiday, I just thought that id cope keep injecting short acting every 2 hours I suppose. Any way inow have a pack of Humalog Kwikpens short acting and a pack of Lantus Solostar long acting I cant remember how to calculate what dose I would need to get me through the night, is there a way of working this out "simple ways please"
