Hi everyone

I recently had a Hb1Ac test (first time ever) and it came back at 8.6%. The doctor then requested I have a FBG and 2 hpp both of which came back in the normal range (FBG 84 and 2hpp 80). I live in Egypt and although so far the doctor has been great I just want to make sure I am full understanding what is happening. Do I have diabetes even though my FBG and 2hpp came back normal? Are these results typical of type 1 or type 2 or prediabetes? For quite some time I've been eating reduced carbs (but haven't reduced my chocolate intake!! ). I'm overweight but walk to and from work everyday and can never get any weight off :(

I've been searching the net for information regarding a high Hb1Ac and low FBG etc but can't find anything. I'm due to go back to the doctor this week but want to make sure I have some understanding because sometimes things get lost in translation!!

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

I'd trust the OGTT over the a1c, there are conditions that can give a false reading, you dr may do more tests.

as to weight loss, a lot cut carbs and eat full fat foods to replace the lost energy, trying to do low carb and low fat can end in tears.
