Insulin
Am having serious issues since last December can’t sleep tonight so thought I’d ask for ideas or thoughts
Started having high bs for no apparent reason changed background insulin from levimir to tresiba. Even worse results, conclusion was stacking with tresiba over lap. Now on humulin I, still not good but a slight improvement
What does this tell you…. Yesterday 8 units humulin I at 6.20am. 1:8 ratio at breakfast of fiasp, walked dog 2.3 miles had 15gm extra carbs for walk perfect for rest of day in the green with libre2. Had ratio 1:10 at lunch and dinner. 2.5 humulin I at 7.30pm. Today walked 1.5 miles had 10 gm extra carbs with walk, high all day
13.2 at the moment my toes are feeling strange, not numb but a little tingly. I’m am very worried, my eye test a month ago shows retinopathy but low enough damage as not to be concerning, according to the hospital
My dsn is trying everything and am seeing her every few weeks. Wanting for next thyroid blood check in November as had strange results beginning of year, was put on thyroxine meds but this made my bs rocket so off that straight away. I am honestly at wits end, try most of time not to think about it, some nights just stay awake worrying about internal organ damage. Bs so irratic some days good some days bad. No pattern. I am super sensitive to insulin and have had issues with too much insulin. At the moment I’m not sure if I’m having too much or not enough and dsn is not sure either. Any random thoughts from all members years of experience welcome… type 1 for 15 years

Hi,

One thing I can think of this late at night.
Is there a correlation between certain basal injection sites when the days are or could be better than others?

I wish…… have tried so many things now. Have been injecting in same sites. Bum for long acting, tum for fast acting. If I go over 8 units in morning bs goes up if I have more than 2.5 at night, middle of nightI have hypo….. actually went low in middle of night last night forgot that…. Trying to stick to some routine…… not gona help now, fly tomorrow and -4 hour time difference….. 1 hour change in clock at home had impact . Trying to sleep now …….

I’m not sure where you are flying to?
But anywhere hotter than where I am in the UK increases insulin sensitivity for me. (& I’m reasonably so to start with?)

Enjoy your trip!

Hi @Blueduck am sorry you are having diabetic issues but hope that your holiday will at least cheer you up a bit.

You mention a DSN. Are you able to get a referral to an endocrinologist? If you are non standard (whether it's thryroid or something else) then a specialist would probably get more out of your blood test results than a DSN....

Am wondering if you have a case for going onto a pump? ( I resisted it for several years but honestly wish I'd gone on one when it was first suggested.)

Wishing you all the best

Thank you. I’ll ask when I go in 3 weeks. I’ve asked about a pump as I thought it would help but was told I need to do dafne first before the specialist would even see me. They sent me dates last year but we were away for every date and only sent me one date this year and ten mins later had a notification that it was all booked like you I was not keen re pump for a long time but now I think it may be the answer but maybe out of my reach even though I did the berti on line course and have been carb counting for over 20 years, in our area pumps seem to be like hens teeth
