Type 2 Very High readings

How high is too high? I often have readings of 20 and above ....I feel lethargic and queasy alot of the time.

I'm trying hard with my diet and exercise but do have the occasional slip. Ive been diagnosed about a month now and have had my metformin increased to 2g a day.

I've lost a stone in a month and am self testing ( despite scoffing and actual laughter from the medical professionals ).

I'm just very concerned as I have not been able to get a reading below 10. My average is about 15-20. I seem to be the only one concerned about these high readings. : ( Any advice would be very useful thanks

hi, welcome

yes those readings are too high, i wonder if you would mind posting a typical days food for you?

your doing great with what youve already done and it will help, if we know what you eat we may be able to help you tweek it, if not then a trip back to the doc may be needed, sometimes other meds are needed, it may be that what your doing will be enough in time but you cant really allow your numbers to be that high for a period of time

once you get your numbers down the queasy feelings should cease

i agree with the scoffing, the advice we get is nothing short of criminal imo
 
they've been in that range ever since I started testing and tbh I'm struggling to cut out carbs. I love bread and potatoes. Plus when you're short on money your first instinct is to "bulk things up" with carb rich foods. It's very difficult.

yes it is difficult, but it wont get easier if your suffer the consequences of high blood sugars :( there have been many threads regarding cutting out the carbs on a budget and im sure if you read through some past threads you would pick up some useful tips, then the will power to not eat what you want is common with most of us, its not easy but we have little choice im afraid, i look at it as if i had cancer it would be worse feeling like there was nothing i could do to help myself, at least with this we do have that "luxury"

edit: im not comparing this to cancer
 
it all feels like an unclimbable wall right now but the benefits to our lifestyle changes are great i promise you, assuming you can do it, if not we are here to kick you up the bum or epathise, either way whatever you are going through, someone here is going through it too and everyone else has been there, done that, bought the t-shirt, shrunk the t-shirt in the wash, bought another one, then another when we shrink and that t-shirt looks like a tent

What's that got to do with it, suck it up, everyone loves bread and potato [I feel like a reformed smoker]
carbs are addictive, the more you eat the more you want
go cold turkey till your carb and BG is under control. cut all grain and grain product, potato and sugar/honey etc
eat fat, olive & coconut oil, butter, when you get the craving starving
