VERY HIGH SUGARS

I am glad to read that you have come through that high reading.
Apparently you were not given any information about what foods are not safe for type two diabetics - that really is very negligent. Medication might help a bit, but without putting a halt to the intake of carbs you are not going to see much improvement.

Thanks for updating us @Don66. It's good to hear you are ok. When you go to the diabetic walk in clinic do ask if you can be tested to see if you are Type 1.

@Don66 - Whatever you do, don't feel bad about asking for lots of help and information on here. It's what the place is for and most of us arrived looking for support, or needing to learn something. Questions are good.

Before you know it, you'll be answer folks. Just go for it.

Hi all . Just an update . Went to central middx hospital this morning a walk in clinic waited ages to see a nurse . First thing she said was as im in another borough i shouldnt have come there. I was not told this when i was advised to go by a&e dr . So was about to get really upset . But what a lovely caring nurse she said she will help me. Anyway she went through loads of info . My bloods were taken for GAD and antibodies . She advised that by friday if sugars dont go down that i might need insulin . She advised me to increase metformin by another 500 and see how it goes . Ive cut carbs but not eating much as seem to have really lost my appetite any advise what to eat or snack on would be great . Anyway i got home and my sugars went down to 10.1 and just did it again and lowest its been 9.7 !! I havent taken the extra 500 metformin just sticking to what ive been on as sugars have gone down alot .
Sorry for long post x

It's fantastic you was still seen although you're living in another borough and just great you found a caring nurse. Super you are being tested for GAD antibodies.

You can snack on eggs, nuts, avocados, cheeses & meats, gherkins, veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce etc.

No post is ever too long! All the best, good luck.
