very worried

hey Gem ... you have quite accurately described what I seem to go through from time to time ... and yes ... it's excruciating (especially whilst driving and you cannot stop and get out and stretch to relieve the pain). I DO have the feeling someone has "punched me in the kidleys" (& I use the word KIDLEYS purposely) Sometimes on the RHS, sometimes LHS ... sometimes both sides. My wife is a nurse and she gave me Cystopurin Granules (Cranberry)... even though I do not have a urinary tract infection or burning sensation. It seems it is the ONLY thing that relieves the intense discomfort - and after an hour or so ... discomfort lifted! As my wife pointed out to me, this pain arrives when I NEGLECT to drink my regular 2 liters (4 X 50cl bottles per day - spaced out) of water a day (sometimes I just could not be bothered drinking water). So the minute I feel ANY discomfort, I drink 1 to 2 sachets of cystopurin - and 500ml water ... and it works for me. Done one urine test ... and results "normal" ... whatever that means ... !

Diagnosed a year now (type 2) and have come to the conclusion some GP's and their front office staff really should be retrained or it should be made compulsory to register with diabetes.co.uk

It has been an appalling process (battle) thus far ... but "my will" has prevailed - tho my GP may fire me soon (bring it on - I am sooo tired of his surgery and rude staff)! His opinion is I should be measured every 6 months (HbA1c blood test alone) - daily checks are " ...a waste of time in his opinion and that of the broader medical establishment" - I referred him to the various diabetes.co uk community blogs ... and I have got my way ... I digress ... BGL dropped from 25 to average of 7 now - I know the cause for my Type 2 ... I was 50 kilos overweight (weighed 140 kilos)(stopped smoking 5 years ago - and used lots of sleep and inactivity to overcome the 50 a day habit) - I am 118 kg now and looking forward to weighing 90 kilos soon :=)>

There was a time i thought it may have been the 40mg Statins I was on that was causing this pain - I stopped taking them and no pains since ... so I am not sure what is causing this as well. Thank you for sharing this - i feel normal now ... hope U're feeling better and please keep us posted ...
 
Woah will certainly try and give those granuals a go. As I dont like cranberrys. Hopefully will help with the pain there.

I got my dates today the big letter. Next week sometime for the scan to be finalised. And the 14th July is d-day for the biopsy... Must not keep thinking about it.. :lol:
 
Just a little update as more details in the drug thread but for those that are interested :lol:

Got my scan on the 12th, bloods to be done 13th and the biopsy is the 14th.

And because im a big wimp im being fully sedated with the same thing I had at bupa for a colonoscopy so al be out cold basically and wont remember a thing. Other thread has details for anyone else wanting that when they are needing scary procedures.

On the diabetes front I spoken to the Endocrinologist and got no further forward. He said 3 moths ago if no improvement with hba1c then he will want me onto victoza etc. But he just bare face lied and allthough it got worse and went up over 7 again has decided not to bother.

I made sure he was well aware I dont appreciate being lied to and that I will be seeking a new specialist. The man is an utter joke. So instead of victoza I come away with see me in 3 months. And he actually CUT DOWN my gliclizide MR because its adding weight. Total joke. :evil:

Anyway as always thanks for reading if anything its a rollercoaster ride. :lol:
 
Just a quick update been a scary week.

Had my scan on Monday and my kidneys looked the okay and nothing dodgy. YAY.
Tuesday had all my bloods done at doctors.

Today. Just back from Hospital had my kidney biopsy done. Now for people like me who are terrified I will not lie. Getting prepped and so on is **** scary but thankfully they had there top guy in and a full team to sedate and monitor me. The procedure itself did NOT Hurt but was uncomfortable from what little I can remember. Taken about an hour and then it was back to recovery im a little achey around the left side so big deep breaths and coughing is a bit uncomfy. No bleeding in my urine so was allowed home.

To anyone else having to go through it and is as scared as me it was not as bad as I thought but certainly something I dont want to do again :lol:

Just got to wait for results now. I did thank all the nurses though as they where utterly fantastic. One of the nurses when it was getting done was talking to me to take my mind of it and without her I would of probably freaked out a little more.

Will update with results. Hopefully anyone searchin the web for kidny biopsy find this post as when I was searching I only found a few who had put down what it was really like.
 
lol typical after my other post still getting allot of pain especially if I breath its like someone punching and poking and hurts like heck. So they want me in immediatly at 8am for scans and bloods. just my luck :cry:
 
For those that where following the long bumpy road were finaly there the results are in...

I have a deasease of the Glomurili and as such have a 50% chance that I will be on dialysis within only 7-8 years tops just into my 30s. He used some massive long name for the deasease that I have now forgoten and silly me didnt think to get him to right it down. So there going to try and lower the bp as low as possible with diff meds and for me to try lose as much wieght as possible to avoid other diabetes complications and help with the bp but other than that nothing they can do.

The news hits you hard and I think I came across at quite angry when I was talking to them your emotions just run around inside your head. trying to just keep positive about it now but its hard.

looks like my future has a little less to look forward to. :cry:

Thanks all especially for the hugs :wink: That is close to the name of the deasease its in right zone but he told me specifically what one of that type it was oh well will get it from them shortly. Still most of them end up the same place just not as quickly.

just got to try get my bp low as possible he wants under 120 70 and with a bit of luck I might make it past the 6-8 years before it happens. Trying to stay positive all the while. Got my college course coming up.
