This has probably nothing to do with my diabeties type 2, I have had one virus after another for about the last 6 months and I am fed up to the back teeth with it Doc doesnt seem to see it as a problem. My long term bloods are good 6 most of the time but this constantly being unwell is getting me down. Has anyone out there had a similar problem. I am taking metformin and rosiglitazon (think thats how you spell it) dont know what else could be causing these illnesses

hya,
what kind of virus do u have? what symptoms are u having and we will try and advise u :D

Hi
I just get one cold or flu type thing after another think I must have had about 7 since Christmas, just worn down by them. With every one the symptoms are different. I also have something called cutaneus t cell lymphoma but cant see any link with that either.

Hi Lor,

Neither metformin nor rosiglitazone can cause cold/flu like symptoms. But I read a report the other day that this winter there seems to have been a far higher level of bugs doing the rounds, resulting in some pretty virulent colds. I got one nearly a month ago that I am still shaking off the last bits of! Maybe you will will feel better when (if) the weather improves.

There's also a lot of vitamin D shortage around, especially since it's been so dull for such a long time. Anecdotal evidence is that people who are topping up their vitamin D seem to be less prone to these bugs.

I've been supplementing with cholecalciferol, available here

many of the other suppliers only sell ergocalciferol which appears not to be metabolised so well

I work in a large hospital respiratory medicine dept. The Consultants there say this has been the worst winter for viruses/respiratory infections for many years

It's been the same up here,a particularly nasty virus that has lasted 3-4 weeks and knocked the stuffing out of people.

LOL! It was a chest infection I couldn't shift got me here in the first place, the metformin came later!

I understand that them what's prone to it has found it difficult to shake off this winter. Whatever it is...
