Vision changes due to sugar levels

My last Hba1c was 81, the highest its ever been, so in the last week I have come off sugar/carbs almost entirely and my blood sugar levels are now between 4.0 and 5.5 on twice daily testing.

But I have noticed that my vision has gone a bit strange, and that my glasses are only really effective when perched about an inch down my nose (I have a big nose), or otherwise some things eg reading subtitles, are a bit blurred.

Is this a result of sugar leaving my system? Has anyone else had this? How long did it take your eyes to settle?

Yes. In my case, it sorted itself out after a couple of weeks of no sugar/carbs. Don't buy new glasses! I managed reading/computer with cheap magnifyers from the local shop. Don't drive until your eyes settle.

It's been about a week so far. No, I won't get new glasses, I'm making good use of my colossal conk to slide my current pairs to the right position according to my vision. And no, I won't drive. Thanks.
 
this also happened to me and I had no idea why my DN had not toldme of this and I was due an eye screening in a month I was very scared. Eventually I went and asked an optician she said this is quite normal when your sugar levels are changing do not make an eye test until you know it has stopped. It tpplmone ver a mpnth to get back to normal sight but me Blood sugar was very high then Hba1c 129

Thanks for that. Yes, I read somewhere that it can take up to three months for things to settle. It is, as you say, quite a scary thing to happen when you haven't been warned that it might.

I was so scared waiting for the retinal screening results, even the girl taking the photos said I really can understand you concern
