Last time I had an appointment to see my DN, she couldn't make it and I was seen by a Pharmacist..
This time I phoned the day before to check I was going to see my DN, yes they said.
This morning I get a call from the surgery saying DN could not make it today, sick. but I could see the other nurse at the same time at the other site. Yes I said
Go to surgery, wait to be called... and then called by my first DN.... I didn't ask.
HbAc1: 39 mmol/mol. Very happy she was. Asked me how I was managing it.... balanced diet... hmmmm, no I said, low carbs and higher fat. Asked positively how I was managing it, well I said, it's actually great, not feeling bloated, actually feeling hungry for a change and eating like a horse... well it's working for you, she said, keep it up.
Cholesterol: CT 8.58. TriG 3.05, HDL-Chl 1.72..... not good she said.... and we discussed statins.... I'm going to see a doctor when I get get the one of my choice and discuss.
Pleased with HbAc1, 38 six months ago....
No going back.
Thanks to all who helped by visiting this group.

Keep the low carbing going it will (eventually) lower your cholesterol.

Well done on the HbA1c

As @nosher8355 says - keep at it and hopefully cholesterol will come down.

I've been on Simvastatin for a few years now with no ill effects and my cholesterol was 3.5 last time. I asked if I could come off them but the DN said not recommended. I'm thinking of asking my GP instead.

Keep doing what you're doing

Edit: Forgot to mention I've seen the practice pharmacist a few times now and turns out she's a bit of a diabetes expert. I'm not so confident with my DN's.

@scottish-jim with cholesterol that low I'd be demanding not asking to come off them.

Cheers Jim. I've tried three statins and they all seem to do something to my liver.... so not so keen to try again.
Good luck with your discussions.
