Visiting from Australia this week! Anyone near Ashbourne?

Hi everyone,

Hubby, kids and I are visiting later this week some of my hubbys relatives in the UK. We will be staying at hubby's uncle who lives at Ashbourne. I was just curious if we have any members of the forum that live nearby...

Can not wait to visit, absolutely love England. So different to here, so much history.

Sorry don't live near..

But ensure you pack, so woolly jumpers, warm clothing and waterproofs..

Tis cold and wet here even for a blog standard British Summer..

Hi Sandra!

Whilst you're in derbyshire,the derbyshire Peak district is very beautiful and try and visit the town of bakewell too as it's very nice!(I had quite a few family members who lived around there when I was a boy and i have very fond memories of staying there with them)

Hubby and I will be visiting Bakewell as a cousing is taking the kids to Alton towers for the day...so we will be doing some driving.

If you like history do try Haddon Hall nearby (much better than Chatsworth, no crowds, more authentic interior, wonderful rose gardens). Also try tea at the Cavendish Arms in Baslow -- not cheap, but wonderful views from the garden room.

Love the Peak District!! my parents were here for a few weeks and took them to Chatsworth House...i love the place!!! do visit their farm shop...they have gorgeous food stuff!!!
Bakewell is really a nice place to visit and Ashbourne is sooo picturesque and there are loads where you can walk!!!!

do enjoy it!!!
