visual migraines

Touch wood I have not had a migraine in at least 5 years. However, when I used to get them, they would always follow the same pattern. To begin with, my eyesight would deteriorate to almost non existence. This would usually last about 45 minutes. Suddenly it would come back to perfect, and at the exact same time I would get the most exquisitely horrific headache. I would also feel some tingling in my arms and legs (thankfully nothing like my mother's symptoms, one side of her body would go entirely numb during a migraine). The only cure I found was to go and lie down, and sleep it off for a couple of hours.

I used to have eye migraines for a while after diagnosis haven't had one for a couple of year, no pain but very weird vision and a funny smell in my nose, would last about an hour, I don't think they are to do with diabetes, just a coincidence
