Vit D tests not available anymore

No I don't take that one - that's to stop bone cell turnover I think. I seem to recall there was some downside to taking that, but can't remember what.

Yes we do have the same auto-immune conditions.

Apparently after 5 years of taking Alendronic, you are advised to stop as it can have the reverse effects,

I expect that, as the word about vit d deficiency is spreading, the labs have been swamped with testing, and the cost to the NHS has gone through the roof.
Hence the clampdown.

I would love to know what proportion of testees are deficient!

I don't need a test - I know I am deficient.
Only see daylight at weekends from Sept to April, and I wear SPF 50 all year round.
How could I not be deficient?
So I supplement when I remember to take the dratted capsules!

I did take vit d but thought I'd come off and ask for a test....just to see whether my working and being outdoors so much was keeping my levels up etc...

Oh well, will phone Company for a testkit tomorrow..

Not sure if I've ever been tested DD, were they routinely done as part of our annual diabetes health check?

Only done if consultants were aware that vit d is lower in diabetics...and they were either asked (like me) or thought something needed investigating..

Not a standard test, but was available upon request.

If Vitamin D tests are not available anymore on the NHS, what is the point of companies manufacturing Vitamin D injections?

I requested my Vitamin D levels to be checked via my diabetes consultant as I was curious to know whether I was deficient or not as I had not been out in the sun much due to a dreadful summer with loads of rain and I was also experiencing leg cramp at night.
The test revealed that I was deficient so GP did an injection and the leg cramp stopped.

This was requested by my consultant too but still rejected!!

Goodness, hope you are ok?
It's so bl**dy frustrating when they don't listen!

Hope the tabs/injections help (didn't know D came in injections!)
