At my last diabetic review, I was found to have a vitamin D deficiency so was prescribed vitamin D tablets for 12 weeks. Apart from vitamin D, what other vitamins could we (Type 2 diabetics on Metformin) be deficient in? I will now keep a check on my Vit D levels from now on and request another blood test for this at my next review.

B6 and B12 are usual suspects, but you can have low levels of them all, GP should test every 3 months if you have low Vit D

Just be aware of the symptoms of any vitamin and mineral deficiencies. These are normally apparent, although not always associated with a deficiency. It is easy to blame symptoms on diabetes itself, or other conditions. These symptoms can be found on Google.

low carbing can result in deficiencies in salt and potassium.

MANY people are chronically deficient in magnesium.

Anyone taking vitamin D (hopefully Vit D3) should be taking a proportional amount of K2 at the same time (that is K2 not K1 which has a different function).

Beyond that, I think we are all so unique it is impossible to generalise...
