I am not on medication but have bought a monitor so I can test how food stuffs affect my levels
I know to test before a meal and 2 hours after
But
How long do u have to wait to test if you want tocheck an individual food stuff, like a piece of fruit affects you

As if I had to wait 2 hours every time, I would run out of time

Yes it is a bit tricky, try eating and testing the food when you are also eating something you know does not spike you.

You could test then eat then test after an hour to see if the fruit causes a big spike.. if it doesn't after 60 mins then you should be ok with it. Remember you only have to do it once for dodgy food types then you'll know (probably).

Just be aware that most people, including non diabetics, will spike after an hour on fruit. The secret is to have recovered well by the 2 hour mark, so if you do test at an hour please don't panic if it's higher than you like! Just test again at 2 hours. Pick a time when there is the longest gap between meals or in the evenings.
