I've noticed that in the TV series, Wallander and his mates seem permanently depressed and miserable, and walk around in permanent rain. I know how they feel now!

should i be worried what it says about my boyfriend because he was intently watching it!!!

Haven't watched wallander myself so couldn't comment about him being miserable but one things certain,I'm miserable!!! I need some sun!!!

Love it, mind you I prefer the swedish one.

I only watch the Original ones on BBC4. Can't be doing with the English language version at all but I like gloomy people and dislike heat and sunshine so the mood suits me!

I love the Swedish Wallander. The series with his daughter was the best. It was awful to discover that the actress who played her committed suicide. She was so young and her depression, especially after being caught up in the Boxing Day tsunami, overwhelmed her.

We have actually had 2 days with almost no rain which feels quite strange. No doubt it will be raining again tomorrow.

The irony, of course, is that Wallander is diabetic. You would have thought that Sweden's enlightened policy on lchf diets would have made him permanently happy like xyzzy....

Is that right? What, the actor or the part he plays?

The part -- this was in the Swedish version (can't remember which series, 1st or 2nd). One of those details that a non-diabetic misses, but it leaps out at you if you're one of the Blessed Three Million (or however many there are meant to be of us in the UK at the moment).

Afraid it did nothing for me. Watched it for around 10 mins then switched over to see Sue Perkins drive the Ho Chi Minh trail. Permanently happy  I'll have to try harder ...

Never seen Wallander but if you want to be miserable try watching The Killing on Channel 4.......btw it's a brilliant series but very dark!

Nah, that's a cheerful version of wallander - just got more rain!

'The Killing is fantastic .. the original one with subtitles.

Like Wallander too .. wasn't sure the first series but it's grown on me.

He's a pretty poor role model for diabetics, his irregular and stressful lifestyle play havoc with his health. And he's hiding his drugs from his daughter. I've just read the last book in the series, and he's taking statins and having lapses of memory. I kept thinking NO NO dump the statins!
