Hullo all, first ever post on the site so be nice! lol,

I've heard about low carb diets, googled it a bunch of times, but all the medical websites confuse me cause I'm not good with fractions/percentages/oddly worded simple sentences! Any one got a good guide I could try, just a simple list of meals I can eat with out having to figure out how many grams etc. i can have in a day!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sarah :)

Look at Viv's modified Atkins, and eat meat to fit the size of your hand (chicken breast, steak of similar), veggies for the rest of what you want.

It is relatively simple like that and for a start, finer tweaking can come later. All the allowed foods are allowed...

How is that?

Print a wee card with the allowed veggies, make it the size of your hand, hehe, all in one place, folds easily into a purse or pokcet - on reverse side keep a list of the other things you can have in smaller portions (berries, cheese....) and your target blood sugars after meals if you're able to measure and that's really as simple as it can get.

Then note down the results you get in a wee notebook with what it was you ate and in a short time, you'll be much less confused.

Would that work?

Oer, I don't measure. I just have meat, fish and veg. If it d
Oes or does not fill the plate. Either way it works for me, I am losing and getting levels good, but everyone is a bit different.

Or you may just want to start by cutting outor reducing starchy carbs, bread, potatoes. rice pasta A good way to get some immediate results.

Hi, I am also new to cutting out carbs and needing all the advice I can get, so I was interested in your question unbeliever. I'm pleased i found this site and think it will be useful. I tried to follow Dr. Bernstiens diet, but found it too rigid. At the moment I am reading jenny Rhul's book about all the things your not told when your diagnosed, its extremely interesting, and I'v been given some bum info and for years i'v had far too high blood sugar counts.

Anyway, I am 1 week into cutting down on carbs, Iv cut out all the major ones, and so far not too bad, but I take insulin 4 times daily so it's tricky, but I am determined to stick to it. My reading have come down except for my morning ones, they are still too high. not sure what is going on there maybe someone can help with that one.

Give it a go,and keep testing. Good luck
