Hi I'm trying to lower carbs and weight and drink at least 2-3 litres water a day. Just wondered how much others drank as I feel so full of water.

I drink around 2 litres a day, not all water, much more than that and I would be constantly in the loo!

Mrs gimli hi yes like ann1982 i drink between 2to3 litres a day may be more in summer

You have to be careful not to drink too much, especially in a shortish period of time. You also need to increase your salt intake the more you drink. People have died through drinking too much and thereby depleting the body of essential sodium.

How much is too much? I think the jury is out on this.

http://www.naturalhydrationcouncil.org.uk/hydration-facts/faqs-on-hydration/

the European Food Safety Authority’s scientific experts recommend an intake of 2.5 litres of water for men and 2.0 litres of water for women per day, via food and drink consumption..Of this, they suggest that 70-80% of the daily water intake should come from drinks, and the remaining 20-30% should come from food

That's very interesting thank guys I do worry its to much and the weight not shifting

I drink approximately 1.7 litre of herb tea and 2 cups of coffee daily.i believe by drinking to much
It could make your supplements less effective.by flushing them out ,

I aim for 1 litre of water per 5 stone of body weight (that is 1 litre/70 pounds of body weight).
More in the summer.
But that is a very rough guide.

I strongly believe that our water requirements are very personal, depending on size, weight, BMI, climate, living temperature, exercise and activity levels, how much liquid is in our food, and any health conditions. So I don't think it is very helpful to compare ourselves with others.

Perhaps the best way to gauge personal requirements is by colour of urine. This graphic explains it very well:

Lovely chart but it missed out the pink I got the morning after discovering how delicious roasted beetroot with garlic and balsamic was. :p

Purple wee is a symptom of Porphyria.

Whoops - yes it did. :( Sorry, senior moment.

I'm a big drinker 3/4 litres most days, but I'm on Forxiga and I've not had a urine infection yet, so it works for me, peeing isn't a problem as your body does get used to a higher hydration level, but I do normally have 1 visit through the night at about 4am

Two pints of water daily, plus about six mugs of coffee. Whatever that is in new money, I'm still a thrupenny bit person.

LOL. Apparently Ribena used to make my pee purple when I was a kid.

Do any of you feel stressed out worrying how much water you drink just chill when you are thirsty don't drown yourself
I read a book that advised only drinking when you were thirsty. I wish I hadn't. I wasn't drinking enough to flush through my kidneys and ended up with really high BP and a reduced kidney function. I wasn't thirsty though. Nowadays I am much more careful.

I have a couple of litres of water each day, spread out over the day - some of it sugar free squash - plus two or three decaff coffees (pint mugs) and maybe a daintier mug or two of vanilla redbush tea. I don't worry about how much actual water I drink though, I tend to go by a similar idea to @Brunneria 's chart.

For those of us wanting to lose weight it is important to drink enough, otherwise we retain fluid. We need to be properly hydrated to lose fat.

I make sure I have at least 2 litres of water a day. I have 4 x 500ml bottles, one kept on bedside table so I drink if I wake in the night, and make sure I have finished that bottle before I get up in the morning. The other 3 I drink from gradually during the day. I have herbal tea, one or two cups and maybe 2 cups of coffee. Sometimes add extra water too if the weather is warm or when exercising. Alas beer is off my menu now. I do have sparkling mineral water and add a slice of lemon. I like to live it up now and then. ;)

I believe that if you wait until you feel thirst your body is probably already a bit dehydrated.
