soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
As we approach the new decade, I'm thinking of all the things I CAN still do
In no particular order and NOT exhaustive;
I can look after my beloved Grandchild
I can walk miles
I can get up and down my stairs safely
I can see well.I can hear well.
I can go to the gym with my friends
and do other things with members o family and friends.
I can keep my home( not very tidy though  )
I can keep up the garden and will be growing fun veggies with grandchild this year, along with the fruit like that we grew last season.
I can cook
I can do my shopping
I can drive,( but use my car only, when feet or the bus are impractical)
I can sew and knit
I enjoy music and the visual arts.
I can try to help fellow diabetics.
I WILL finish that book
And loads more
I am SO lucky

Well, Hana, I am grateful I can do all those things too - except go to the gym (live too remotely) and plant veggies with the grandchildren who don't live near!
But "finish that book"? I too have three unfinished books on the go at the moment. What's yours about and why isn't it finished already??? Mine are novels for children.

It's a book where I hope to help other diabetics get the level of control that I've achieved. I'm still in he first chapters about what constitutes diabetes.
I admire anyone who can write fiction. I can handle English quite well, but other than stories about animals for the very little ones, I don't have the right kind of imagination. I would love to write a detective story though. I've had a super clue, tucked away for years.

Most of that I can and will do I just have to get the full use of my legs back. I never new how much I would miss just being able to go to the shop. Well done to the grandparents showing up a 30 year old  I'm not jealous

i had a stroke 6 years ago and was paralysed for a couple of weeks. The nurses kept trying to prevent me from walking, but I kept at it. I managed to fall just once.
You CAN do it
Hana

I believe 100% in "Mind over matter"
Hana

Havinng lived with a T4 parapalegic for a few years, that really is a load of rubbish.
You'd be fine if you though better, ergo it's your fault you're still in a chair?

Mind helps an awful lot, it really does. But in reality, medically some things are not going to happen.
After a stroke many people simply cannot regain full movement. it's simply not possible.

It's not because you were stronger, it's because you were less affected.
Reality sucks sometimes, and sometimes, people can't get better.

I am well aware that some things cannot be put right, but mind over matter still applies in how you deal with a disability.
I am also aware that people who give up easily don't get better either.
