Weekly Hypo

For the last 3 weeks I have a Hypo every monday evening at he same time i.e between 7.30 - 8.00, not a small one either its one of tose where you can't be relied upon for a sensible conversation, a reading of about 2.5. The rest of the week I'm fine, and during the day on a Monday my readings are as they should be. I've had various meals on a Monday evening from pasta to beans on toast. Its the only time I've had a bad hypo and can't work out why it is at the same time of the week, it seems very strange to me. It might be one big coincidence but its geeting on my wick. Anybody got any ideas on how I can break this weekly tradition!!

What do you do on a Monday? Do you work - if so it could be the change in routine or the shock of going to work after the weekend

Edit: Now I see you do work and you have cheddars instead of biscuits. That may explain it...

Neil,

Could it be the weekends alcohol catching up? Please don't be offended if you don't drink but this can often be a cause of hypo's some 24 hours later after drinking.

Another one of my wild theories here ( ) - I've been looking into the cumulative effect of carbs over time.

MAYBE, there's a similar cumulative effect with insulin? Just a theory - don't flame me!

Hi,

Just a suggestion...do you get up, or go to bed and hence inject your long acting insulin late r on aSunday, but then go back to "normal" weekday times on Monday? I wonder, if you had your Sunday evening basal later in teh evening, but then got up early on Monday and injected again, and then had a your evening does atearlier too, you have justgot too much basal insulin in your system?

Might be way off, not ven sure that you are on basal bolus, but though I would suggest it?

Thanks for the replies

Daisy: I love those cheddars, but I promise to give them up for the summer when I can snack on some decent strawberries

Nigel: You may have a point about alchohol, but it may be the other way round. Normally at the weekend I go for a couple of beers on a Saturday, it is a couple honest. But the last 3 weeks I havn't gone as other things have come up. I'll have to get back to the norm this Saturday to test that theory.

Patch and Sue: I like the cumulative insulin affect, it has to be someting along those lines. Good job I am due to see the Diabetic Consultant later in the month, he's a nice bloke and it will give him someting to think about.
