Sorry, very long post!
The Consultant at my hospital led Diabetes clinic is suggesting I try one of the GLP jabs to help my insulin resistance and weight loss.
I have managed to lose a stone in the past year but am struggling tbh. 1200 cals per day.
I have Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis in my hip, (prob need a replacement in the next couple of years).
I am currently 14st 10lbs and obvs my bmi isn't good at 5ft 3!
Currently I use 54U of Tresiba nightly and also Trurapi before meals at 1U per 5g of carbs. I do correction of 1U per 2mol if my bg is over 8 before a meal. I also take Dapagflozin.
I am T2, have been for 20 years, started insulin 3 years ago when most tablets stopped helping much.
Tests have shown I am still def T2 but am not making a lot of insulin, am also resistant to my own and injected insulin.
The Consultant feels the jabs would help the insulin work more efficiently, reducing the units used and help me lose weight.
I don't need it to "cut the food noise" people talk about, I don't pick or snack, or eat cakes, sweets, biscuits, chocolate, crisps, pastry, pies etc.
I minimise carbs as much as possible, but have to be mindful with the Dapa and risk of DKA.
I suppose I'm nervous of it because I have ibs, constipation type, take a lot of meds and I don't like the idea of my digestion being "slowed down" I eat pretty small portions anyway.
I exercise as much as my Fibro and OA allow me to, mostly walking.
I suppose I just need other people's views given what I've said, in that I am not greedy, or a snacker. When I did very restricted diet years ago I became quite OCD about food, not wanting to eat, so I'm a bit worried this would trigger that again.
Thanks for listening folks. I would welcome advice.
