hi all

am 41 yr old single mum, who was diagnosed at the end of june last year with t2, i started from a hba1c result of 92 and have got it down to 59 in jan there, anyway i have also went through an op called novasure and along with the implant i dont get periods and havent over the last 3.5 yrs.

but i noticed the past two months ive been getting period cramps on and off during the month, and today i had a spliting headache along with these cramps and tested my blood and its up to 11.7 mmol where normally am not any higher than say 9.4 the past three months.

can having diabetes end up starting my periods up again or i have a 13 yr old daughter whos possibly starting hers at any point.

seriously wondering whats going on as ive enjoyed not having any periods or pain over the last few yrs

thanks

@leigh16 . Welcome to the forum.
Apologies I can't offer any help whatsoever. Definitely not my territory.
Hopefully some of the lovely ladies on the forum will be along soon to offer advice and help.

Hi,
I'm 45 and also have the implant so no periods. I have not experienced cramps like you have so I would be tempted to go and see GP. Just to get checked out.
Illness can raise sugars so if the cramps are a stomach issue then that might be the cause.

Hi @leigh16 and welcome to the forum,

I also can't offer any help. Not my territory either, but would suggest you visit your GP. The only thing I can add is that when I was having some IBS symptoms the stomach cramps were very similar to period pains, although my memories of those are 30 years old! Any sort of illness/pain/stress can raise your blood sugar levels.

I can see logicically, on a purely biological level your daughter could be triggering a response in your own body.

We humans have bodies that were designed a long time ago where to ensure the survival of the species teenagers are physically capable of childbirth. As you daughters development gets nearer to that stage your own body could be trying to compete on a subconscious level.

As women live together there cycles become in tune, ( we men think it is just to double up on our misery;))
It could be your body's way of saying "hay I'm not passed it!"
:bag:

funny enough ive alway thought that way, but well see lol thanks

The only time I ever had a painful period was at the start of perimenopause at the age of forty. This may not apply in your case but just something you might want to be aware of. All the women in my immediate family started the change early, my whole menopause ended at fifty which I consider to be lucky all things considered. I would definitely seek advice on your problem in the light of your implant, though.

Yes weird question. ..youll probably be better asking on a womens health forum site or consult your g.p.

Recent research evidence suggests women who live together do not synchronise their periods as previously thought:- https://www.livescience.com/58687-menstrual-cycle-sync-myth.html

Hi,

I’m T1 and had an implant for many years. No nothing, it was great. Moved into a shared house of women. Cramps, intermittent periods. The lot. Not a weird question. Depending on what time of the month it is does change your sugar levels. Just something else to put up with.

I have had similar cramps in the past when I have had UTIs. Might be worth checking out.

I dont think everything is connected to diabetes...mens health or women health..problems...hence the suggestion you look at a womens health forum

It may be a diabetic thing but definitely no a weird question. Stress/pmt or known to push your blood sugar up. As will having an undiagnosed infection such as a UTI or maybe connected with hormonal fluctuations around the peri menopause or just that the implant needs replacing...All just guesses! Did you see your GP yet?
Btw I hope men can also post their men's health stuff here on this forum without having to label it as Men Only lest we ladies get over sensitive!
