So I now have a plan......I have been uber Strict LCHF now since the 22nd February (Blood test was 3rd March and Diagnosis was 15th March)

So I will test bloods starting from Tomorrow .....I need to sit an look at it for a day to get my head round it.

I am picking up Metformin from Pharmacy tomorrow, I have important meetings Monday - Thursday next week which will not sit well with me having gastro issues so will start the Meds on Friday 25th as I have two weeks holidays booked over Easter. this will give me a week of readings on LCHF only and I can see the difference the Meds make over the next three months.

I am going to do a through study of this, and note what food I am eating, BS readings, weight, exercise, mood, sleep, stress levels and see what I have in 12 weeks time.

Next bloods booked for June 16th.

I apologise now if I become Obsessed with readings and ask lots of questions.

Hi @Lindy1706 - That's great you have a meter. It is a good idea to keep a food and blood sugar diary. Test your blood before you eat and then test 2 hours after (always wash your hands before testing) and log it all down. This will enable you to see which (if any) foods to avoid and give you spikes. Also, I see you will be starting the Metformin soon. Not everyone takes to this tablet, but there is a slow release version which is much kinder to your stomach - don't suffer unnecessary if this is the case, just go back to see your GP and get it changed.:)
But, I have to say that I have been on Metformin for 14 years and never suffered with it.

Become as obsessed as you like..I have a nice spreadsheet with blood glucose readings, what I have eaten, weight, blood pressure and medical test results. Graphs for overall blood glucose and one for fasting with just the morning results in.. I had a very bad reaction to metformin (both regular and slow release) so stopped taking it after 3 weeks. I might be tempted (if I were you ) to see what a week or two of LCHF does to your bloods before starting the metformin. Of course I'm not a medical professional so that's just what I would do in your place. What was your HbA1c when you were diagnosed.. just so we can keep an eye on you ... hehe ..

I hear you @britishpub and as my lovely pharmacist has just told me "if they do upset you go straight back to the Doc and insist on the slow release tablets"

Knowing my Doc I just know that I will put in 3 months of hard work on LCHF, exercise and general stress relief and it will be a case of "ahh I was right about the tablets" :-)
