Went to see nurse assistant to get my HbA1c done, hopefully it'll be lower than my original figure of 87 when I was first diagnosed with Type 2. Weight has gone down slowly so will find out results soon

Good luck!!! I am not due mine until about Nov and am SO nervous it won't come down enough. Do you test regularly? Just I have been and my averages mean my Hb1AC should be more than halved but not sure if that's an accurate assessment but it makes me feel good! Let us know your results and again GOOD LUCK xx

My meter readings and HbA1c never match up; some just don't. There are many reasons for this, although I can't pinpoint mine - not that it really matters.

One of the most common reasons for meter and lab tests not matching (even given the proper conversion from capillary <> lab tests) is when we do our finger prick tests we don't necessarily see the peaks or the troughs of our curves.

As a T2 you should really be tracking trends, which for now, for you is all about the downward trend. As time progresses you'll be looking for consistent numbers you'll begin to recognise.

And good luck with yours @THEBOT74 !

I need to look into tracking trends then as only really look at FBG pre meal and post meal.

For now, you need to keep an eye on them all, as the food readings help inform you of foods you can and can't tolerate, and the trends tell you your general direction of travel. The fasting you can influence least because so many factors can be in play, but I still like to know it.

Over time, you'll know what your meal time ranges are; for example you could find your evening meal range is something like 4.7 - 6.2, or whatever. That range is random, not mine and not a target for you.

Good luck. I usually make an appointment to discuss the results with the "diabetes nurse". I say that because I have no idea if they do actually have any specialist knowledge. I suspect not; at least in some cases. Getting a bit tired of the "Your HbA1c has come down (on metformin) so now you don't need the metformin anymore routine. And did I know I can eat porridge (I can't) and low fat yoghurts with more carbs than full fat yoghurts. So, I'll just see what result I get in the post and take it from there.
