Ian - when I spoke to them last they were analysing data and it would then be published - that always takes ages, They were analysing the food diaries as well. The problem is they are all working as well in diabetes care.

My pts get good results too after a few weeks but they get individual advice and are seen within a few weeks of diagnosis . i am convinced that makes a huge difference but do not think there is much data to back that up - something i ma thinking about for a piece of reseach!

Thanks, Ally; its good that your patients get individual attention AND that you follow up & observe the benefits.

I suspect that in general, the individual attention from dietitians actually provides the general recommendation from DUK - base your diet on medium GI starchy carbs, with 5 f/v per day, & low sat fat. Other factors, such as obesity or health problems will affect the recommendations. Also, individual attention is soon after diagnosis & is not followed up.

My diabetic friends are all non-compliant as far as I can observe. "Starchy carb" is a licence, not a control, & in any case they can keep taking the pills. Those friends have observed my improvement in health, yet are not prepared to take my advice.

There's plenty of this about - lots of NHS hearing aids being sold on eBay also, but even if you have proof of that (some models of hearing aid are manufactured exclusively for the NHS and are not for sale to anyone in any country at any price) they will not take them off.

Lots of these youngsters who try the ostritch approach to pretend they are not diabetic at all and never test could be making a fortune stockpiling their prescriptions and flogging them off to people who are responsible but unable to get funding. Anyone see the documentary about the money lost staffing a clinic for teen patients who can't be bothered to come, yet they balk at costs for people who want to make the effort! :evil:

new to T2 but going through the mill trying to get anything from the so called medical profesonals in yeovil tried even going to the [pals] at the pct =1st took all the details said she would get back to me ,just for got she was going on holiday to a nice sunny place ,me i was waiting for a week for somthing to be done ,in the end i went up there ,best advice given change your doctors ,still dont have a diatician/optican/ chiropodist or anything else ,BLOOD TESTS 6 WEEKS APART.phoned the appointments nhs office got an answer machine, waited in allday =no answer =give up ,these people are rubbish.

yet they still pick up big pay cheques ,me im doing it on my own :
