I'm surprised that nobody responded to this post.
You only have to read the starvation and short life span that diabetics faced before Insulin to know that this was one of Medical Histories greatest triumphs.

I find this amazing! To think that back then people only had a shot time to live after diagnosis and look at where we all are now as Catherinecherub said one of the greatest triumphs in medical history.
