I teased myself, night before last reading up on neuropathy :( - which I think I have in my feet/foot

Then yesterday I did my first weigh in to prove this diet was one I could lose weight on and I'd lost 2lb (great but the day before I couldn't wait for the official weigh in so I'd weighed and it hovered between 3 - 4 lbs) so I was a bit gutted at the 'real' weigh in result ... the consequence of that was that I started feeling really sorry for my self, decided *** and went and ate a Topic

Later in the afternoon I thought well at least I can walk some of the extra cals off and did 20 mins (only my 3rd time out) took my bg after 2 hours of the T**ic - it was 6.2 the same as my fasting one the same morning

Had steak & salad + 1/2 avocado 2 hours later bg 5.2 !!

This morning had a banana + normal fat yoghurt - couldn't stay awake 1 hour after, so I took my bg 7.9 !

My question is .. how did I manage such a low reading after the topic and the lowest I've ever had after my steak, yet this morning eating a 'healthy' banana sent me to sleep again ?
and have I screwed up my low carbing now ?

confused, fed up and a bit hyperchondrial Gilly

my weigh can "bounce" up and down by as much as 3Kg [half a stone!] overnight. However, my general trend is down-ish. I couldn't do that and keep my BG low by calorie counting!

In the morning, insulin resistance tends to be higher for most people = less carbs to make a bigger spike.

The fact that you had some earlier, then did a walk and your insulin was probably wide awake dealing witht he Topic and then your muscles were wide awake from the walk may well explain the after dinner reading.

I personally try to avoid most carbs in the morning - I do a bit of 3.5 carb/100g yoghurt as that seems to spike me the least - loaded up with psyllium fibre too, heh.

Later in the day, I can get away with some carb without having to overdo my insulin.

I low carb on insulin and try to keep my quick acting insulin at a minimum so I am a bit familiar with the spike stuff if I take a break from it.

Bananas when ripe are about the 'worst' fruit you can have too - you could try half a sliced apple or some berries in that yoghurt, would probably work better for you. Or have the fruit at 11 or something once your body has woken up a bit more.

Good Luck.
