What BS level warrants going onto Metformin

Can anyone please tell me how high the BS level needs to be before being prescribed Metaformin? Thanks

I don’t see how there can be any set numbers since we are all so different. Whether a prescription is given or not would depend on what the Gp’s take is on the patient’s condition as well as many other factors.

NICE guidelines suggest an Hba1c of 6.5 % or over or an individually set number in agreement with patient.
