What did you eat yesterday

that show was amazing, my mouth was watering the whole way though, I love cheese and its even better now I low carb...don't feel guilty!! Let me know how the sauce goes, I think I'm going to try it myself too.
 
Ok today I started with a reading of 11.0 at 9.30 this morning, I had a banana and cream yesterday evening - not good,for breakfast I had 1 slice burgen bread and 1 egg scrambled and a cup of tea. Lunch was 1 small glass of orange juice a piece of creamy cheese and an apple, Dinner was a cheddar cheese and ham with green salad with 100grams potato salad, 1 piece of burgen bread and a zero jelly for afters. Tea and 2 squares of 70% chocolate for a treat. My reading tonight at 10.30pm 7.8 :clap: I like this smiley It looks like I have given myself a round of applause to celebrate, It has taken 12 days to get from a morning reading of 12 with spikes up to 19 and now I have managed a 7.8. I have long way to go yet but it shows it can be done. :thumbup:

Last night I had a mix of bacon, sausage, peppers and onion with 100g of spaghetti. I didn't take any insulin and after 1 hour I hit 7.1 and at 2 hours I was at 6.5

I think thats not bad
 
I make my lasagne with thin slices of celeriac ,I think I may try aubergine and celeriac layers .

I don't think Pasta likes me

I had 150g of cooked pasta this evning with some mushrooms and bacon and a little cream. Then had a small amount of Total (Gk Yog) and a plum.

After 2 hrs 13.7 !! Gasp. Might be that the plum didn't help but still - that's awful.
 
I'm q new to this too. I started 3 weeks yesterday, so am no expert! I ate far too much in the first week (despite my food diary not looking too bad) - I think it was the extra fat and little exercise that got me, as well as constantly thinking about food! - I put on 5kgs in one week, so was eating much more than usual without realising! The second week I stayed the same weight, and in the third I lost 2kgs, and had great steady blood sugars, so seem to be stabilising a bit as I get used to this new regime.

Yesterday I ate:
Breakfast: Coffee
Lunch: thin lamb & veg stew (no flour or potatoes) and white cabbage (10g carb)
Afternoon snack: homemade 'dropscones' 90% bran:10% wholemeal flour + 1 egg + s/s milk (25g carb)
Supper: 100g haggis and 100g savoy cabbage (25g carb)

I didn't start this regime to lose weight, but to control blood sugars better. Annoyingly I now need to lose the extra 3kgs!

Type 1 for 20 yrs
 
Yesterday I ate:
Breakfast
porridge with skimmed milk and a teaspoon of splenda (half a breakfast bowlfull)
Activia yoghurt (figs...my favourite) and a pot of tea
Lunch at work...several pots of strong tea with a splash of semi skimmed milk
Tupperware container full of mixed salad leaves with sliced Yorkshire ham, small cubes of edam and 4 baby plum tomatoes with a betroot dressing.
Alpro soya yoghurt
Satsuma
Dinner
Slow cooked brisket of beef with two tablespoons of mashed potato and half a large head of steamed broccoli
4/5 cups of tea. I take my meds at around 8pm and have one square of dark chocolate to take the taste away (thats my excuse and Im sticking to it!)

Fasting reading averages 6.8
 
I can't remember who suggested it, but I had lasagne this evening with slices of Aubergine instead of pasta. My wife made it half and half (one side pasta, one side aubergine). I calculated the carbs at about 15g per portion (most of this is the tinned tomatoes).
My starting reading was 5.5, then 6.5 at 1 hr and 6.7 at 2hrs - all without any insulin.

So thanks, whoever it was, another proper meal on low carbs. Might even have a piece of very dark chocolate with my tea
 
Swimmer2 I had exactly the same, first time trying it out! it was lovely and I didnt event miss the pasta :thumbup:
 
Sunday supper was;

Silverside of Beef - (casseroled with a few carrots, Onion, celery, Vermouth, stock, red wine), one boiled potato (in it's skin), Broccoli, fried Mushrooms.

Experimental pudding - 90% Lindt Chocolate melted and mixed with single cream, macadamic nuts and a few bits of dried prune - poured on top of thin layer of toasted pinwheel oatmeal mixed with butter and then the whole thing bunged in the fridge to set.

I estimate the carbs at around 20-25g. Haven't got my 2hr reading yet, but feels ok.
 
I don't want to play this game any more. 2hr reading was 10.3 after a start of 6.0 - I just don't understand.
 
Hello all. This is my first post and I really can't work out what to have for breakfast this post has given me some ideas. Does anyone else fine breakfast the hardest meal?
 
Looks like I'm pretty much the only one posting on this thread - ho hum.

This evening was Haddock with leeks and onions and some celeriac/swede mash. Then Greek yoghurt with a few Raspberries and Blueberries.

6.9 before the meal and 6.6 2hrs later

It's been a really good day food wise for me.

For the first time since being diagnosed I managed to eat... get this... one whole slice of burgen at lunchtime and 2 hours later was still safely under 7.8 a real achievement for me.

...only to be closely followed in the success stakes at dinner time my safely consuming roasted veggies that contained about 2 whole small new potatoes. That only took me from 5.3 to 6.2 and back to 4.8 after 4 hours.

What is different today?

Well at lunchtime I ate 5 grams of Bitter melon powder and had another 1.5 grams at dinner.

We shall see if that's a fluke as I wasn't expecting such an immediate effect.
 
do you succumb?

Thanks all of you for your postings. From the start of this, three weeks ago or so my fasting readings are now 8 and 9s rather than 12s, so I am improving. I think I have come to a bit of a standstill so will probably have to go back to testing actual foods now to see what I need to do to get my readings down to 7s. Its a bit like a detective story. Have you noticed how different everyone's food habits are though?
Today I ate an half apple/small slice melon combi and 1 slice burgenn toast for breakfast, lunch was ham and green salad, 1 tomato sliced and half an advocado, afternoon snack 2 pieces of 80% dark choc, Dinner beef stew green beans and 2 roast potatoes, 4 chocolate profiteroles. and supper a snack of 1" cube of cheese and 1 small apple. My reading was 8.6 this morning and 9.2 now just before bed.
My problem is hunger I am hungry sometimes and succumb to daft foods like a sausage roll or a biscuit. I don't exactly forget but I eat it almost without thought, then think how daft I was, why didn't I have a zero jelly or something instead. Oh well I am sure eventually it will get to be second nature.
Can I ask as you all seem to be so good at this diet thing, and occasionally I do succumb to the wrong thing should you feel overly guilty or is it OK i can't imagine the rest of my life not having a treat once in a while. Do any of you succumb?
 
Those are good numbers xyzzy - I read that first as 'Bitter Lemon Powder' and was wondering if a bottle of the stuff with a vodka would have the same effect.
 
Steak pie (low carb crust) with buttery vegetable mash (cauli broccoli swede leeks) and creamed cabbage.
Later on a mug of tea plus low carb cookie.

Change the minced beef to lamb and you've got yourself a plateful of Moussaka give or take a pinch of herbs probably one of the only very low carb meals I really enjoy especially with a bottle of Retsina to wash it down with :thumbup:

Incidentely Pasta is one of only a very few foods that I cant eat and 150g would have put me in double figures as well
