I agree with the post writer. I have had Type 1 diabetes since I was 9. Was not in my family and a another child the same age as me who lived nearby was also diagnosed with type 1. If that's not an environmetal factor I don't know what is. Is it coincidence? Highly unlikely. Well I've had diabetes for 26 years now and have changed various insulins not for the tight control but more as they were more modern than the rest and could prevent hypos not that I had many until ithe last few years and after attending a dafne course strangely enough. Everyday I find I am struggling with the control of my blood sugar. Now matter how good I can aim to be it doesn't always work out owing to the various aspects of life. If I get stressed at work my blood sugar rises. Perhaps I may be more physical than other days or didn't eat as much as I'd thought as I might have guessed wrong so get a low blood reading. Alas then I end up with a rebound high. Its very tough trying to aim for the control medical books suggest we should aim for. My Hba1c is 7.5 and I am told this is good yet I have mild retinopathy which I've been told can come with having diabetes for years no matter how controlled you are which makes me feel so dissilusioned about best of times. . No matter how hard I struggle to get tight control it seems impossible to get the tight control that likely deserves to remain free of complications.
